A fire extinguisher is the only piece of equipment in a building that is bought in the hope it will never be used — and then, on the one day it matters, has to work first time. That reliability is not a function of the unit on the wall. It is a function of who last opened it.
Workshop servicing, not corridor servicing
Genuine servicing means discharging the unit, stripping it, inspecting the shell internally, refilling it with the correct medium and pressure testing it. None of that can be done properly against a wall in an office passage, which is where a great deal of so-called servicing in South Africa takes place.
Eagle Fire Control removes your equipment to a SABS 1475–approved workshop with SANAS-registered high-pressure testing on site. The work is carried out by technicians who hold Certificates of Competency and SAQCC Fire registration — not by general handymen.
You are never left without cover
The obvious objection to workshop servicing is the gap it leaves. We close it: every unit we take is replaced with equivalent loan equipment for the duration. Your extinguisher count, your coverage and your compliance position stay exactly where they were while the work is done.

Compliance you can hand to an inspector
SANS 1475 requires portable extinguishers to be serviced annually by a competent person, with periodic high-pressure testing depending on the unit type. After every service we issue the documentation your insurer, landlord or local authority will ask for — and we keep the schedule so the next service does not quietly lapse.

How often must fire extinguishers be serviced in South Africa?
Portable fire extinguishers must be serviced at least once a year by a competent, SAQCC Fire registered technician, in accordance with SANS 1475. Units also require periodic high-pressure testing at the intervals set by the standard for their type. In addition, a nominated person on site should carry out a visual check monthly.
Will we be left without fire cover while units are in for service?
No. Every unit we remove is replaced with equivalent loan equipment for the duration of the service. Your site stays fully covered and compliant while the work is carried out in our workshop.
Do you issue a Certificate of Compliance?
Yes. Our technicians hold Certificates of Competency and SAQCC Fire registration, and we issue the documentation your insurer, landlord or local authority will ask for after servicing.

Why is the work done in a workshop rather than on site?
Proper servicing requires discharge, internal inspection, refilling and high-pressure testing that cannot be done reliably in a corridor. Our workshop is SABS 1475 approved with SANAS-registered high-pressure testing equipment, which is why units come to us and loan equipment goes to you.
