Fire safety training, with the fire included.

Practical training that turns ordinary staff into a calm, capable first line of response — from basic extinguisher use to advanced courses for in-house fire teams and safety personnel.

Hands-on & site-specific · Durban & Johannesburg

The first two minutes of a fire are handled by whoever happens to be standing there. Not the fire brigade, not the safety officer, not the emergency plan in the binder — the person nearest the door. Almost every fire that stays small is put out by an untrained person who guessed right, and almost every one that does not is made worse by an untrained person who guessed wrong.

Training that involves actually putting out a fire

Classroom fire training produces staff who can describe an extinguisher. It does not produce staff who will pick one up. The gap between the two is the entire point of the exercise.

Our courses are hands-on. Delegates discharge real extinguishers on real fires, under supervision, until using one stops being an unfamiliar act. They also learn the thing most training omits: how to recognise a fire that is already beyond a portable extinguisher, and to leave instead of trying.

What the course covers

  • The science of fire — how fires start, spread and behave, and what actually stops them
  • Extinguishing mediums — which agent suits which class of fire, and the ones that make things worse
  • Correct use of extinguishers, hose reels and hydrants — practical, supervised, repeated
  • Hands-on demonstrations — live fire, not slides
  • Advanced courses — for in-house fire teams and safety officers with a defined emergency role

Customised to your site, not a generic syllabus

A course written for an office is close to useless in a chemical warehouse. We build the training around your site's actual risk profile — the materials you store, the processes you run, the layout people will have to evacuate through and the equipment you actually have on the wall.

That includes running the training on your premises where practical, so the escape routes people rehearse are the ones they would really use.

Why train with a fire protection company

We service the extinguishers, install the detection and write the evacuation plans for hundreds of South African sites. The training is delivered by people who spend the rest of their working week inside real fire systems, and who have seen what fails — which is a materially different lesson from one delivered by a trainer who has only ever taught the syllabus.

Common questions

What people ask us most.

What does a fire safety training course cover?

Our courses cover the science of fire and how it spreads, the different extinguishing mediums and which class of fire each suits, and the correct hands-on use of fire extinguishers, hose reels and hydrants. Delegates discharge real extinguishers on live fires under supervision. Advanced courses are available for in-house fire teams and safety officers.

Is the training practical or classroom-based?

Practical. Delegates use real equipment on real fires under supervision, because knowing how an extinguisher works and being willing to pick one up during an actual fire are two different things. Theory is covered, but the hands-on component is the core of the course.

Can training be run at our premises?

Yes, and we prefer it where practical. Running the course on site means the layout, escape routes and equipment people train on are the ones they would actually use in an emergency. The syllabus is also customised to your site's specific risk profile.

Do you offer advanced training for fire teams and safety officers?

Yes. Beyond basic staff training we run advanced courses for in-house fire teams and safety personnel who carry a defined role in the emergency plan, covering more demanding scenarios and equipment.

How many people can be trained at once?

Course size depends on the practical component and your site. Tell us how many staff need training and what your premises allow, and we will structure the sessions around it — call 031 312 9284 in Durban or 011 892 1191 in Johannesburg.

Need your staff trained properly?

Tell us your site and headcount and we will build the course around your actual risk.
